Borknagar : Te Olden Domain
Borknagar is back with another attempt to amaze us critics. With the same
line-up, including
Garm, but with a different approach.
This album, unlike the debut, starts off slower and shows Garm's clean vocals starting
things off on an easier note. But he still uses his rasp plenty in this album. But the
majority of the
blazing guitars and yelling has dissapeared to show a more of an atmospheric and calmer
side to Borknagar. For some reason, this album appeals to me more than their debut,
although I must say that their debut is a top notch album by itself. This album serves as
the lead in to the following album "The Archaic Course" in which Borknagar takes
this same approach but with Simen Hestnaes (Vortex) taking the reign on vocals. Yes folks,
Garm decides to leave the Borknagar project after this album, but not after making his
presence known. Borknagar continues to write solid albums that satisfies my tastes for
some well written metal. Check it out.
