Ratt : Ratt &
Roll 8191
Ratt were one of the bands that really helped the upcoming L.A. party/glam scene
of the 80s. Although being tagged as a Glam band, they were of the elite that the scene
had to offer, along with Dokken
and Skid Row.
Steven Pearcy has his trademark raspy California-style vocals that are an obvious
focal point in the music.Warren DeMartini, lead guitarist, was one of the better and more
capable guitarists of the 80s. This collection of Ratt tunes spans from their 1983
self-titled EP up to 1990's Detonator. This is one of the better
greatest-hits packages I have come across, containing just about every Ratt song I like.
And, wow, there are 19 of them here!
Nearly all of the songs here are great, and I was impressed with the excellent song
selections used. The majority of cuts featured on Ratt & Roll 8191
are Ratt's more accessible commercial hits, but damn, they rock! My personal favorites are
the cuts taken from the Out of the Cellar and Dancing Undercover
albums. Can we say party? ;)
The tracks, I'm pretty certain of, are in chronological order from earliest to most recent
Ratt, so it's easy to see how the band has progressed from year to year.
This is another one of those value discs that is around $12 or so at most places, so it's
a great way to a hold of Ratt's best material..in one package! Nineteen of them will surely
keep you busy for a while. Good, rocking 80s metal, featuring an impressive selection of
tunes. 'A keeper.
